Cable Lengths

Heated + Unheated Lengths

Pre-terminated, Plug-in Heat Tape lengths are available from 6-Feet – 150-feet of heated Length – The 10-foot power cord included with every Heat Tape PRO is in addition to the purchased length.

So a 100-foot heat tape cable will have an actual length of 110 feet from plug to glow cap. A 6-foot heat tape cable will be 16 feet in total length.

Note: Availability of different heat tape lengths is based on our inventory. Lengths that are out of stock will be noted next to the product price when it is selected.

Electrical Requirements & Recommendations

We recommend having a dedicated circuit for your heat tape system. Having any additional item(s) on your circuit along with your heat tape may cause your breaker to trip, rendering your Heat Tape powerless and ineffective. The outlet you plug your Heat Tape Pro into should be a property wired GFCI outlet. If you need to add a circuit to your panel or have a GFCI outlet installed, it is always recommended having this done by a certified and licensed electrician.

Extension Cords

Extension cords should not be used with heat tape, as they can overheat and create a safety risk. Aways plug the cable directly into a properly rated outlet. Every length of our plug-in ready heat tape pro comes with a 10-foot cold lead (cord) and it is not dangerous to have extra length of heated cable utilized for the purpose of getting to the outlet, if required.

If you are installing a new GFCI outlet for your heat tape, consider the optimal location of the outlet for use with the heat tape.

Multiple Heat Tape Cables at Once

Some installations may make use of multiple Heat Tape cables simultaneously. Understanding the electrical limitations of your panel will be instructive in designing your system.

If you want to use multiple cables on a single circuit do not exceed the following aggregate length(s) of heat tape:

  • For 15 Amp Circuits: 113 Linear Feet of Heat Tape
  • For 20 Amp Circuits: 150 Linear Feet of Heat Tape

WOW! I'm a DIYer with a lot of questions living in heavy snow country. Other companies steer me onto chat that they don't answer. Matt of Radiant took all the time I needed & was VERY knowledgeable. I love that they sell gutter heat tape separators (which local outfits had never heard of!). If you also find their website more informative than others... YES!!! I've placed my order knowing it's with the best.

I contacted radiant solutions company through their contact us tab on the website. Matt answered my email very promptly. I had a few more questions so I sent him another email and he called me right back by phone instead of chatting back-and-forth n email. He took the time to answer all my questions and give me inside tips on installation. I highly recommend them and I highly recommend Matt as a sales / customer service representative.

We are so pleased with the service and product from this company. The self regulating pipe heating cables that we have purchased have kept our pipes in our RV from freezing and running smoothly in this super cold winter. They have been easy to install and monitor. I would highly recommend ALL of the products from this company.

This is a fantastic company with well thought out and high-quality products. The 'kits' for cable ends, tees and terminals are complete and easy to install. All instructions are complete and excellent support is available. The paper installation manual is a complete planning and installation guide. Company support is first rate. Highly recommended vendor.
